Kate Bennett, a senior at Algonac High School, made her official commitment to compete for St. Clair County Community College as part of the cross country and track program.
"The SC4 campus feels like a real college campus, just smaller. I like that I get to stay home with my family while saving money at a community college. I also like that I can continue my running career after high school," said Bennett.
While an athlete for the Algonac Muskrats, Bennett qualified for the state meet in the 800 meters, in which she was regional champion in her junior and senior years, as well as the 4x800 relay. Bennett began running cross country her junior year and saw tremendous improvement, dropping her PR to 20:34 and earning her a top twenty spot on Algonac's record board.
Bennett served as the AHS President of SADD, and as a member of the National Honors Society, student council, and the care-bag movement. She plans to study nursing at SC4.
