Anchor Bay's Aidan Leslie Commits to Northwood University

New Baltimore Anchor Bay High School senior Aidan Leslie has committed to Northwood University to further his athletic and academic career. Leslie will be running cross country and track for the Timberwolves.

While a student-athlete at Anchor Bay, Leslie competed at the varsity level all four years of high school, along with running indoor track. He has a personal best of 16:50 for the 5K and was a part of the first Anchor Bay cross country team to qualify for the Division 1 state finals since 1977.  He was named to the All-State Academic team for cross country, as well.

Leslie was named to the MAC Conference All-Academic team his freshman through senior years.  He was a 2023 indoor track state qualifier in the 4 x 800-meter relay and a New Balance Indoor Track Nationals Distance Medley Relay qualifier. He has received Macomb All-County honors in the 4 x 800-meter relay and the 3200-meter run, along with MAC Red All-Conference honors in the 4 x 800-meter relay.  His personal bests are 10:03 in the 3200, 4:42 in the 1600, and 2:06 in the 800.

Leslie has also been active in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) program and qualified for the 2024 state competition. “The goal of the Workplace Skills Assessment Program is to provide all students with the opportunity to demonstrate workplace skills learned through business education curricula. Students prepare for and compete in contests under six assessment areas including Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Digital Communication & Design, Management, Marketing & Communication, and Health Administration”, per the bpa.org website.

Leslie says he’s interested in pursuing business and finance and he chose Northwest University because "I liked the small campus feel of Northwood and their Business program is outstanding!  They have a very strong distance running program with great coaches and facilities!  I felt at home during my visits and interactions with the team.”

Congratulations, Aidan!
