The Greater Thumb League (Memphis/Capac), North Central Thumb League (Dryden), and MAC Gold and Bronze (Marysville, New Haven, Port Huron, and St. Clair) wrapped up their league competitions on Tuesday for the 2024 season. All eyes turn toward Regionals this weekend as athletes will be looking to hit qualifying standards or places to earn a state-meet berth.

The Dryden girls' team won the NCTL for the first time since 2005. Olivia Reynolds went four-for-four in conference championship competition, winning the 200 (27.43), the 400 (60.48), the 4x200 in 1:53.87 (with Delaney Wolle, Sophia Peter, and Keira Miller), and the 4x400 in 4:20.93 (with Wolle, Peter, and Caila Fitchett). Ava DeVlaminck was second in both the shot put and discus (29-3.5 PR/104-10 PR). Dryden competes Friday at home for its Division 4 Regional.

Memphis’ Kai Fisher, just a freshman, was second in the 100 (11.89), won the 200 (24.11), 400 (53.73), and was second in the high jump at 5-4, while Yellowjacket teammate Tim Short took first place honors, jumping 5-8 (pictured below; courtesy of The Memphis Sting Report/FB). Short teamed up with Caiden Borowski, Steven Kasten, and Mason Tomasino to take second in the 4x100 relay (49.62). For the ladies, the 4x200 relay of Allison Clark, Lauren Wronski, Ava Rhein, and Kendra Spoutz was third in 2:02.39. Spoutz also took second in the long jump in 14-3.5.
Bella Wetter of Capac won the 100-200 sprint double (14.21/28.93) and was runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.31. Ava Klink was second in the shot put (25-7) and third in the discus (80-5) for the Chiefs. Kiera Smith was third in the long jump in 14-2.
Memphis has its Regional competition this Thursday in Clawson, while Capac competes Saturday in Deckerville.

Christian Lacy of New Haven won the 100 meters in 11.17, a new PR. Logan Fowler was third in the 400 in 55.94, a PR. For the Lady Rockets, Emma Reimer won the 400 in a new record of 65.91, the 800 in 2:53, and the high jump in 4-2, her PR. Riyon Williams was second in the 100-meter hurdles (21.58) and 300 hurdles (58.27). New Haven competes in their Regional meet on Thursday at Clawson.
