Yale easily claimed the team title, taking third, fourth (Nolan Korolden; 17:49 PR), seventh (Wyatt Murtos; 18:22), eighth (Logan Rhodes; 18:24), and ninth (Jack Nicol; 18:35 SR) places. The top 21 finishers in the MAC RED earned all-conference honors on Wednesday, wrapping up this division’s league competitions. The St. Clair boys placed fifth as a team while Anchor Bay was sixth, with Greg Vogt (AB) leading all Blue Water Area finishers in 11th place (16:44). Vogt’s teammate Aaron Osterman was 19th in 17:01. Also earning all-conference honors with a top-21 finish was sophomore Ethan Kreger of St. Clair, who finished 18th and dipped under 17 minutes for the first time, running 16:59. Last year Vogt was 27th, Osterman 55th, and Kreger 39th, so all saw significant time and place improvements within the league.
The girls’ race was all Romeo, who scored a perfect 15 points and had their entire varsity team take first through seventh place, with all runners under 19:05 and a team spread of just over thirty seconds. Their quest for a repeat D1 state title is looking solid. St. Clair’s girls finished sixth and Anchor Bay’s eighth. The Saints’ pack was once again back in action, with Ella Thornton, Allie Komarowski, and Molly McNabb going 27-28-29, respectively (21:02- 21:13 - 21:16 PR).
