Welcome to Blue Water Running!

Updated: Aug 26, 2023

Hi. Welcome to Blue Water Running. We’re so glad you came to take a look. This website was designed first and foremost with the local cross country and track/field athletes in mind. We here at BWR have a passion for all things running-related and have spent almost our entire lives involved in various levels of the sport, from middle to high school, collegiate competition, road racing, marathoning, ultramarathoning, and even triathlon. We are very familiar with the local BWAC and MAC leagues as well as running across the region and state. Up late checking Athletic.net? Yep, that's us too...

It’s no secret that traditional sports writing and coverage of cross country and track and field is minimal. Calli Newberry raised running journalism in the Blue Water Area to a whole new level at The Sports Report, recognizing and celebrating local athletes, but most importantly emphasizing the humans behind the accomplishments. Good sportsmanship, character, leadership, teamwork, determination, and work ethic are just as newsworthy as achievements, records, and wins, and Calli exemplified these qualities in her work. We were big fans of her writing; almost every article covering our local runners was written by her. We were also most appreciative of her kindness and integrity. Our dream is to see coverage of cross country and track continue in the Blue Water Area.

We are exclusively committed to press for cross country and track athletes and to see their talents and efforts recognized. The running community is one of the most welcoming, friendly, and unique in the sports world. If you have something that would make a great blog post, article, or feature, we are always open to suggestions: please see the “CONTACT” tab on our website. We will also be reaching out to local coaches, teams, and athletes for updates throughout the cross country and track seasons, but also appreciate any proactive submissions as well.

While we dislike ads as much as you probably do and love when things are free, journalism is not our primary career. We have demanding full-time jobs outside of BWR and could not implement a brand new project of this scope without subscribers who support the vast amounts of money, time, effort, and resources that go into our second job of creating/posting content and maintaining a website that will continue highlighting achievements in these local sports. We also dislike spam and bots clogging up our website, which is why we ask you to subscribe and verify with a real human email address. We will do our best to keep things free as long as financially possible. If you'd like to make a donation toward the web hosting costs and fees or advertise your business with us, that will help keep costs minimal for the athletes and subscribers. We appreciate your patience as we work through all the new information and "bugs" of starting a website. We hope as you join us here throughout the year, you continue to find the content interesting, inspiring, and worth your investment. We thank you for your support and look forward to focusing on the amazing cross country runners and track and field athletes in our area.
